Convert WEBP to PNG Privately
Choose WEBP images to convert to PNG. Files stay on your device.
How to convert WEBP to PNG
- Drop your images into the converter or choose files from your device.
- Select PNG for each file in the queue, then choose Convert All.
- Download individual results or choose Download All to save each converted file.
Your images are processed on your device. Some conversion engines need an internet connection to load. A loaded engine may continue working offline in the current session, but offline availability is not guaranteed.
Keep transparent WebP graphics in PNG
Choose PNG for a logo, sticker, or screenshot when your editing app needs PNG and transparent areas should stay transparent. A format change cannot restore detail already lost in the WebP source.
Example: a logo with transparent corners
Convert your WebP logo, then place the downloaded PNG on both a light and a dark background in your editor. The corners should reveal each background instead of becoming a solid rectangle. Zoom in on lettering and curved edges; converting to PNG does not repair compression artifacts already in the logo.
What to check in the output
- Transparent pixels stay transparent
- This route draws the decoded image into an alpha-enabled browser canvas and exports PNG at the decoded width and height. An opaque source will still be opaque.
- PNG may be larger
- PNG encodes the decoded image without JPEG-style loss, but it can use more bytes than WebP. Compare your download with the original; a larger PNG is not evidence of added detail.
- Animation becomes a still image
- Animated WebP is decoded as its default image or first frame on this route. The downloaded PNG does not preserve animation.
If the conversion does not look right
- The PNG appears to have a background
- Many image viewers display transparent areas on white or black. Place the file on a colored background to check alpha; if the rectangle remains, the source may already have an opaque background.
- The image will not decode
- Try a current browser and another known WebP file. Renaming another format to .webp does not convert it. A damaged or unsupported source may need a fresh export.
- A very large image fails
- Try a smaller image or convert one file at a time. Browser canvas and memory limits depend on the device.
Finish preparing your image
- Resize the PNG
Prepare the transparent graphic for its final placement.
- Remove an existing background
Try this if the source contains a solid background rather than transparency.
- Create website icons
Use the graphic as the starting point for favicon exports.
