Convert PNG to WEBP Privately

How to convert PNG to WEBP
- Drop your images into the converter or choose files from your device.
- Select WEBP for each file in the queue, then choose Convert All.
- Download individual results or choose Download All to save each converted file.
Your images are processed on your device. Some conversion engines need an internet connection to load. A loaded engine may continue working offline in the current session, but offline availability is not guaranteed.
Prepare PNG graphics for the web as WebP
Try WebP for screenshots, illustrations, and website graphics when the destination accepts it. Compare your own files: the size difference and visible quality depend on the source and encoding, so smaller output is not guaranteed.
Example: a screenshot with small interface text
Convert a PNG screenshot, then compare the downloaded WebP and original side by side at 100% zoom. Inspect small text, flat-color edges, and gradients. Compare their actual file sizes in your file manager. Keep the PNG if the WebP looks worse or offers no useful size reduction; there is no universal savings percentage.
What to check in the output
- Quality is selected by the encoder
- This converter uses automatic WebP encoding and does not offer a lossless toggle or quality slider. Do not assume a pixel-identical result, even when the original PNG is lossless.
- Check transparent edges
- WebP supports transparency. If your PNG uses it, preview the output against light and dark backgrounds to check the alpha edges and appearance.
- Dimensions are a separate choice
- Changing the format is not a resize step. A large graphic can still be expensive to display; use the resize tool if the source dimensions exceed the space where it will appear.
If the conversion does not look right
- Small text looks soft
- Keep the original PNG or try another export in your editor. Reducing dimensions further can make text harder to read, so compare at the intended display size.
- The WebP is larger
- Check that you compared the actual downloaded files. Already efficient PNG graphics can remain smaller; use the original when conversion does not improve your intended use.
- The conversion engine fails to load
- Reconnect and retry. This route needs to download a conversion engine before processing; a network restriction can prevent that first load.
Finish preparing your image
- Resize for the final placement
Avoid serving dimensions larger than your page needs.
- Compare compression settings
Try quality adjustments and inspect the final appearance and file size.
- Check the published share preview
Inspect a public page's metadata after updating its image.
